Iran is quite a significant area in terms of Turkology researches. Until 1925, approximately for 1000 years, a continuous period of Turkish hegemony had been experienced in this region. Naturally, in this period, Turkish way of living, Turkish culture, architecture and so on were integrated into Iran culture as its primary components. Today, even if, different figures are announced about the number of Turkish people who live in Iran, by all accounts, the number of Turkish people living in Iran is at least 20, at most 35 million. Despite this intense Turkish population in Iran, unfortunately, research on Turkology has begun very recently. Especially Doerfer's scientific tours to Iran in 1970s drew attention to this region. Following these journeys, research on Turkish spoken in the region was accelerated. Being discovered in Iran, Khalaj Turkish was one of the historic Turkish dialects spoken in the region, which shows how important Iran is for Turkology research. In the same vein, in this essay, Sungur Turkish spoken in Sungur, a town in Kirmanşah Province in Iran is examined refering to its number system.en_US
