Serbes Cumhuriyet Gazetesi'nin (26 Ekim 1930-14 Ocak 1931) İncelenmesi ve Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

1929 yılı sonlarında baş gösteren Dünya Ekonomik Bunalımı Türkiye'yi de olumsuz yönde etkiledi. İktidar partisi olan CHF'nin bazı uygulamaları, özellikle devletçi tavrı, toplumun bazı kesimleri tarafından eleştirilmekteydi. Ekonomik ve sosyal sorunlara mecliste yanıt aranmasından ve iktidar partisinin denetlenmesinden yana olan Mustafa Kemal?in düşüncesi ile Ali Fethi (Okyar) Bey'in başkanlığında 12 Ağustos 1930?da Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkası (SCF) kurulmuştur. Parti, kuruluşundan yaklaşık iki buçuk ay sonra konumunu bazı yayın organlarına dayandırarak güçlendirmiştir. Bu yayınlardan biri de İzmir?de çıkarılmış olan ekonomik anlamda ?liberal? politikaları benimsemesi sebebiyle Serbes adını alan ve desteklediği SCF ile aynı adı taşıyan Serbes Cumhuriyet Gazetesidir. Gazete adeta Serbest Cumhuriyet Fırkasının İzmir?deki sözcüsü durumuna gelmiş, bu yönüyle gazete SCF?nin anlaşılmasında önemli bir role sahip olmuştur. Gazetede, yayınlandığı muhit itibariyle daha çok İzmir ve çevresinden haberlere yer verilmiş, aynı zamanda memleketten ve yurt dışından haberlere, yazı dizilerine, reklamlara, ilânlara, iktisadî ve ziraî bahislere, eğitim, sağlık ve insanlık için önemli görülen bir takım teknolojik haberlere değinilmiştir. Siyasi çerçeveden baktığımızda ise İzmir ile çevre il ve ilçelerdeki seçim yolsuzlukları, yerel seçim usulsüzlükleri, iktidar-muhalefet ilişkisi, Milli Blok oluşturulması ve Menemen?deki Kubilay Olayı gibi gelişmelere dair ayrıntılı haberlere yer verilmiştir. Aynı zamanda halka yönelik bir gazete olup bu tavrı kapanana kadar sürdürmüştür. Gazetede Faik Muhittin, Behzat Arif, Dr. Ethem Vassaf ve SCF?nin önde gelen isimlerinden Ahmet Ağaoğlu da yazılar yazmıştır. Having arised in the later 1929, the Great Depression affected Turkey negatively. Some implementations of the ruling party, Republican People?s Party (CHF), especially its statist attitude, have been criticised by some fractions of the society. By the idea of Mustafa Kemal, who favoured searching answers for the economic and social problems within the assembly and auditing the ruling party, the Free Republican Party (SCF) was founded under the chairmanship of Ali Fethi Okyar on August 12th, 1930. After about two and a half months of its foundation, the party reinforced its state by building on some media organs. One of these organs are Free Republican Newspaper that was founded in İzmir and named `Serbes? (Free) because it economically adopted the `liberal? policies and supported SCF. In fact, the newspaper has become the spokesman of the Free Republican Party in İzmir and on that sense has got a significant role in the comprehension of the party. The newspaper included mostly news from Izmir and its surroundings. It also addressed to the news from home and abroad, article series, advertisements, announcements, economic and agricultural discussions and a number of technological news considered important for education, health and humanity. When viewed from a political framework, it included detailed news regarding the electoral corruptions and local election infractions in Izmir and nearby cities and districts, relationship of the ruling party and the opposition party, some incidents such as building up the National Block and Kubilay Incident in Menemen. It was founded for the people and kept this attitude till it was closed. Faik Muhittin, Behzat Arif, Dr. Ethem Vassaf and Ahmet Ağaoğlu, one of the prominents of SCF, have also written columns in the newspaper.
