EVALUATION OF WEIGTING PRESSURE’S EFFECT ON DOT GAIN IN NEWSPRINT PAPER

Abstract

Weighting pressure and dot gain in Offset printing system which is commonly used in printing industry affect the quality directly. Dot gain is in direct proportion to weighting pressure. As long as the pressure increases, dot gain also increases. In recent years prioritizing the quality term requires the optimization in printing machines. In this study, printing has been done to 80.000 sheets of paper by increasing weighting pressure in each 10.000 sheets of paper to 90 gr/m² III grade paper pulp via Heidelberg GTO 36 x 52 cm printing machine for the purpose of determining the effect of pressure, which printing boiler applies to material under print, to dot gain. After each 10.000 sheets of paper printing, weighting pressure is increased in the proportion of 25 newton unit and the effect of this is studied. Other all elements are kept fixed in ideal values except weighting pressure. Graphs are created from the data obtained as the result of measurements implemented on samples taken from each 10.000 printing. In the end, it is determined that dot gain increases approximately 10% in especially 40% tram values and dot gain increases while the weighting pressure is increasing

Basım sanayinde yaygın olarak kullanılan Ofset baskı sisteminde baskı basıncı ve nokta kazancı kaliteyi doğrudan etkiler. Nokta kazancı baskı basıncı ile doğru orantılıdır. Basınç arttıkça nokta kazancı da artmaktadır. Son yıllarda kalite kavramının ön planda tutulması baskı makinelerinde optimizasyonu zorunlu kılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, baskı kazanının baskı altı malzemesine uyguladığı basıncın nokta kazancına etkisini belirlemek amacıyla, Heidelberg GTO 36 x 52 cm baskı makinesi ile 90 gr/m² III. hamur kağıda her 10.000 tabakada bir baskı basıncı arttırılarak 80.000 tabaka kağıda baskı yapılmıştır. Her 10.000 tabaka baskıdan sonra, baskı basıncı 25 newton birim oranında arttırılarak basıncın baskıya etkisi araştırılmıştır. Baskı basıncı dışında diğer bütün etkenler ideal değerlerde sabit tutulmuştur. Her 10.000 baskıda bir alınan numunelerden yapılan ölçümler sonucu elde edilen verilerden grafikler oluşturulmuştur. Sonuçta baskı basıncı arttıkça nokta kazancının arttığı, özellikle %40’lık tram değerlerinde nokta kazancının ortalama %10 arttığı tespit edilmiştir
