A RESEARCH ON DETERMINATION THE LEVEL OF AWARENESS IN VOCATIONAL SCHOOL STUDENTS ABOUT THEIR PROGRAM PREFERENCES

Abstract

Students in vocational schools are required to have the preliminary knowledge and necessary skills about the program that they want to attend. It is obvious that the students should prefer the school program considering their personel interests, abilities and wishes as this will create happy and succesful individuals in professional life and contribute to the quality of vocational and technical education. The study was done to determine the level of awareness of 191 students from three different programs at Köyceğiz Vocational School in Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University. The data in the study was obtained by the survey techniques and analyzed by statistical program. The reliability of the data was found and necessary statistical methods (Frequensy, independent t test, one-way Anova and duncan test) were used. As a result, the majority of students have preliminary research while making preferencess and also they choose programs which has many job opportunities. The 28 % percentages of students are attending to the programs that they are interested in

Meslek Yüksekokullarında eğitim alacak öğrencilerin seçecekleri programla ilgili gerekli ön bilgi ve beceriye sahip olmaları gerekmektedir. Öğrencilerin kendi kişisel ilgi alanları, yetenekleri ve istekleri doğrultusunda program tercihi yapmaları mesleki yaşamda mutlu ve başarılı bireylerin ortaya çıkmasına ve mesleki ve teknik eğitimin kalitesinin artırılmasına katkı sağlayacağı açıktır. Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversitesi Köyceğiz Meslek Yüksekokulunda üç farklı programda öğrenim gören 191 öğrencinin program tercihlerindeki farkındalık düzeylerini tespit etmek amacıyla bu çalışma yapılmıştır. Çalışmadaki veriler, anket tekniğinden yararlanılarak elde edilmiş ve istatiksel paket programı vasıtasıyla analiz edilmiştir. Verilerin güvenilirliği bulunmuş ve gerekli olan istatistik yöntemler (Frekans, t testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi ve duncan testi) kullanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, öğrencilerin büyük çoğunluğunun program tercihlerini yaparken ön araştırma yapmış oldukları ve kolay iş bulunabilecek programları tercih ettikleri belirlenmiştir. Okumuş oldukları programın, % 28’inin ilgi alanı olduğu tespit edilmiştir
